My computer–former computer–broke down about three months ago, shortly after I started this blog. Which isn’t to imply that there would be anything more written here had it not happened. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.
The first month was difficult. I’d get home from work and not know what to do with myself. I watched more TV and more movies. Eventually I started reading again, for fun. But now I have myself a new machine via connections and the kindness of strangers, so.
In fact, it’s probably better that I didn’t have internet for a while. Dependency is a scary thing; besides, it wouldn’t have been much more than complaining. It’s been a mostly good couple of months, though it’s had its moments both good and bad.
One thing I did miss was writing. Writing long-hand is a chore now–my fingers can’t keep up with my brain. This may be good in cases where there is an expected audience, but writing is one of the more effective techniques for sublimation. Ink and paper don’t always cut it. It is not a coincidence, of course, that I wanted to start something like this before school starts.
